The town of Bowling Green will host Mayberry Days Saturday, a festival that will feature a fine arts show, crafts, a pie contest, music, games and more.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Main Street area and also Milford Street. Unlike the town’s annual Fall Festival, however, streets in the downtown area will not be closed off.
Vendors and activities will be set up on courthouse square, the vacant area next to Union Bank, and other spaces in the downtown area.
Activities and vendors will include the town’s farmer’s market, antiques and collectibles, kitchen gadgets, baskets, spring plants and more. Merchants will be conducting sidewalk sales. There will be games and activities for children of all ages, including a ‘bounce house,’ insect zoo and farm animals from the Caroline County Agricultural Fair.
Mike’s Outdoor Shop has been sponsoring a fishing contest for children leading up to the event. The contest is for the largest pan fish and also the best painting or drawing of a fish. Prizes will be awarded Saturday.
The pie contest is limited to 40 entries. Two pies must be submitted for each entry so one may be auctioned off for charity. The pie contest will award cash prizes of $100 for first place, $75 for second and $50 for third. There is a $5 fee to enter the contest.
