Fort A.P. Hill invites the community to attend its annual Easter sunrise service at 8 a.m. April 9 at Liberty Church.
Chaplain (Lt. Col.) James Dusty Gray of Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region and Military District of Washington will officiate.
Liberty Church is associated with one of the oldest Baptist congregations in Caroline County, organized in 1796. The building, constructed in 1850, is a well preserved example of the churches built in the county during the Antebellum period. The structure has been preserved in the past 70 years, since Fort A.P. Hill was established.
The historical significance associated with this church makes it eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
Community members wishing to join Fort A.P. Hill in this Easter tradition will need a valid driver’s license, car registration and proof of car insurance for access onto the installation.
