A Caroline County man was killed when he was driving a motorcycle and was involved in an accident in Georgia early Thursday.
Anthony Askew, 48, of Ruther Glen, was dead at the scene of the accident on Interstate 95 near Brunswick, Ga.
The accident occurred about 5:50 a.m. and involved three other vehicles, according to the Georgia State Patrol. All were traveling northbound in the center lane of the three-lane highway.
A pickup truck suffered a blowout, and the driver lost control, struck the guardrail in the median, and over-turned.
A car subsequently hit the guardrail and spun around and came to a rest in the far left-hand lane, facing south. Askew, driving a Yamaha motorcycle, struck the car and was ejected into the median. Another car then struck his motorcycle.
Askew, who was employed as in information technology specialist at Genworth Financial in Richmond, was en route back to Virginia after a business trip in Florida.
An ordained minister, he also was on the staff of Family Life Baptist Church in Ashland. Askew also had helped found the former Journey Church in Caroline.
