The Lake Land’Or Property Owners Association is offering a $500 reward to help catch the people responsible for a series of burglaries in the gated lake community in Ladysmith.
The reward was publicized on the association’s Facebook website recently.
Homes have been burglarized in recent weeks on Glen Cove Drive, Ackerman Lane, Houston Drive, Devon Drive, Willow Court, and Land’Or Drive, according to the association.
Thieves have targeted homes during the afternoon, choosing houses that are set back from the road or entering through doors that are not visible from the road, according to the association, and most homes have not had deadbolt locks. The thieves have taken jewelry and cash.
All the break-ins have occurred by forced entry, according to Maj. Scott Moser of the Caroline Sheriff’s Office.
The association notified residents of three break-ins in a Facebook posting on Dec. 7 and three more in another posting on Dec. 11.
The association’s security staff and the sheriff’s office have increased patrols in the community and are investigating the burglaries.
The $500 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the burglaries.
Residents are being asked to report any suspicious activity or strangers to the security staff at (804) 822-6434 and the sheriff’s office at (804) 448-2240.
