Courtland trounces Lady Cavs

Host Courtland trounced the Caroline High School Lady Cavaliers in a semifinal game of the Battlefield District Tournament last night.

Courtland’s Janae McNeil poured in 34 points to lead the Lady Cougars to a 65-28 victory. The Lady Cougars will meet Eastern View in the tournament championship game.

Caroline failed to score in double digits in any quarter as Courtland raced to a 34-15 lead at intermission.

Freshman Hope Toliver led the Lady Cavs with 11 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Junior Bo Hayes also grabbed 11 rebounds.

“We started off well but just didn’t come out in the second half,” said Caroline coach Tim Marshall.

The Lady Cavaliers will face Spotsylvania in a consolation game at Courtland on Thursday night.
