Four Lady Cavs earn district honors
Four members of the Caroline High School girls basketball team have picked up All-Battlefield District honors.
Three members of the Lady Cavaliers were named to the all-district second team – freshman Hope Toliver, sophomore Jazmen Moore, and senior Shannon Mosby.
Junior Bo Hayes received an honorable mention.
Heading into tonight’s Battlefield District Tournament consolation game, Toliver is the leading scorer for the team, averaging 13.5 points per game. She also has the best field goal shooting percentage for Caroline at 43 percent. Toliver also led the Lady Cavaliers with 91 blocked shots, and she has the second-highest rebounding average on the team.
Moore was the second-leading scorer for the Lady Cavaliers this season, averaging 12.5 points per game. She led the team in two categories, assists and steals.
Mosby was No. 2 in assists and steals.
Hayes led the Lady Cavaliers in rebounding, averaging 8.7 boards per game. She also was No. 3 in scoring and had the best field goal percentage after Toliver at 41 percent.
Courtland’s Janae McNeal and Spotsylvania’s Kortni Simmons shared Battlefield District player of the year honors, and Eastern View coach Mike McCombs was named district coach of the year.
