Caroline’s Region 1 playoff run ended Thursday night. The Cavaliers suffered from cold shooting, and Ryan Greer scored 17 points to lead Chancellor to a 69-46 semifinal victory.
Playing against a quick, precise Charger defense, Caroline managed only 17 points in the first half.
“We came out flat,” said Caroline coach Antoine Johnson. “We had shots, but we couldn’t seem to make them fall.”
Greer made four 3-point shots, and 10 other Chancellor players got on the scoreboard. Dre Edwards added 12 points for the Chargers and Chris Patterson, 11 points.
“We had so many of them step up tonight and do the little things it takes to win games,” said Chancellor Coach Bob Reich. “I’m so proud of the way we played.”
Chancellor out-rebounded Caroline 49-37.
Caroline was paced by senior Deion Scott, who scored 11 points. Nine other Cavaliers contributed to the scoring, but Scott was the only one to reach double figures.
Ahead 33-17 at halftime, the Chargers padded their lead by out-scoring Caroline 22-14 in the third quarter, going up 55-31.
Caroline ended the season 21-6 overall.
Chancellor will travel to Grafton tonight for the Region 1, Division 4 championship game.
