Scott, Howard, Pollard earn district honors
Caroline High School senior point guard Deion Scott was named to the All-Battlefield District first team.
Two teammates also earned Battlefield District accolades; junior Will Howard and senior DaQuan Pollard were named to the second team.
Scott was one of the team’s most prolific scorers this season and also was a defensive threat.
After 17 games, the most recent point for which team statistics were available, Scott was second in scoring and averaged 12.5 points per game. He also was one of the team’s most productive free throw shooters, going 53 of 77 at the charity stripe.
Scott also led the team with 102 assists, averaging 6.0 per game, and was No. 2 in steals with 39, averaging 2.3 per game.
Howard led the team with 242 points and an average 14.2 points per game. He also was productive at the free throw line, going 63 of 94. Howard led the team with 110 rebounds, averaging 6.5 per game.
Pollard was No. 3 in scoring with 171 points, averaging 10.1 per game. He led the team with 52 steals, averaging 3.1 per game, also was among the top four players in rebounding.
Courtland’s Nicholas Stewart earned Battlefield District player of the year honors, and Culpeper coach James Thompson and Chancellor coach Rob Reich received coach of the year honors.
