The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Dawn man Tuesday and charged him in connection with the shooting and wounding of another man.
Wayne Douglas Harris, 57, was arrested at his home on Courtney Road about 3 p.m., Sheriff Tony Lippa reported.
Harris was arrested without incident. He was charged with aggravated malicious wounding with intent to kill, using a firearm to commit a felony, and possession of a weapon by a felon. Harris was being held in the Pamunkey Regional Jail in Hanover.

Authorities had been seeking Harris, calling him a “person of interest,” since the shooting at the Dawn Convenience store on U.S. 301 Monday night.
The shooting occurred about 6:03 p.m. at the store, which is located about a mile south of the intersection of Route 30.
The shooting victim was a man, according to Lippa. He was struck by a bullet that lodged in his arm, and his wound was not considered life threatening.
The victim, who was not identified, was transported to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond and underwent surgery. It “appears he’s going to be all right,” said Lippa.
The shooting took place outside the convenience store, and there were some witnesses to the incident, he said.
A deputy indicated Harris and the victim knew each other. “The preliminary investigation does reveal these two apparently knew each other,” Sgt. Karl Eichenmiller told another media outlet.
