DOSWELL – The Virginia Home & Garden Show will be held Jan. 14-15 at Meadow Event Park.
The show offers an escape from the cold and a glimpse of spring. In addition to garden displays and exhibits by home improvement vendors, Andre’ Viette, author of best-seller “The Mid-Atlantic Gardening Guide,” will offer a seminar Saturday about day gardening problems and current trends.
As the developer and owner of André Viette Farm and Nursery in Fishersville, Viette grows over 3,000 varieties of perennials for the sun and shade and enjoys sharing his experiences and knowledge with others through his radio show, “In The Garden”, which is syndicated and airs locally on WRVA, and books and appearances throughout the country.
Back by popular demand after his standing room only appearance at last year’s show, Viette will present a seminar on ‘Gardening With Little Or No Work’ at 2 p.m. Saturday followed by question-and-answer session and a ‘meet and greet.’
The seminar will include tips on: flower gardening, vegetables, lawns, fruit trees and other trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, seeding a lawn in the spring, and insects, diseases, and weeds.
“I am delighted to have been invited back this year”, Viette said. “In response to the many questions that have been asked, I’ll also discuss the stress winter has on plants, ever-growing deer problems, a new species of stink bug, and the renewed popularity of backyard farming.”
The Virginia Home & Garden Show will be held 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Discounted tickets may be purchased for $5 online at www.VAHomeAndGardenShow.com.
Regular admission is $8 for adults; children age 16 and under are free. Active and retired military, police and EMS also will be admitted free of charge with a valid ID.
