MILFORD—Caroline High School has lost another student—the second one in a week.
A 14-year-old ninth grader took her own life and died at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, reported Caroline Sheriff Tony Lippa.
“There is no evidence that leads to foul play or bullying as the cause of this young lady’s death,” Lippa said. “The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office investigators have been working closely with family members and sharing information with them.
“What we have here is another tragedy where a young person has chosen to end her life,” the sheriff added. “For those who put misleading information onto social media, that is simply wrong. The family or families that are involved in this situation need thoughts, prayers and understanding of their loss—not rumors or false innuendoes.”
Thomas Wendell Wheeler, 15, of Ruther Glen, a 10th grader at Caroline High, died Tuesday, Oct. 15. Rescue workers were dispatched to the school to respond to a student cardiac arrest in the gym. The student was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, said School Superintendent Greg Killough. His family was contacted immediately and the family and school administration traveled to the hospital shortly after he was taken to the hospital, Killough said.
