Arts commission announces winners of fifth annual art exhibition

The Bowling Green Arts Commission had its Fifth Annual Fine Art Juried Exhibition Nov. 1 and 2, and awarded a total of $850 to five winners.

The art show was in the Bowling Green Town Hall where visitors could participate in a paid wine-tasting to raise money for the Caroline Alliance Against Violence. Proceeds will be used by CAAV to provide educational training and awareness programs in Caroline County.

Exhibition judges were Nancy Williams, who has an art studio near Fredericksburg, and Denise Antil, a board member of a sculptural gallery and a jewelry artist.

The winners were:

Best in Show: Steve Hilker, Fredericksburg, Title of work: Loey

lst Place: Trish Hill, Bowling Green, Title of work: Big Daddy Caddy

2nd Place: Cireena Katto, Fredericksburg, Title of work: Playing on the Rappahannock

3rd Place and People’s Choice Award: Katie Boltz, Beaverdam, Title of work: Jack

Honorable Mention: Barbara Byrd, Bowling Green, Title of Work: Siblings at Play

Honorable Mention: Rachel Carroll, Spotsylvania, Title of Work: The Wash

Honorable Mention: Kayla Ellsworth, Fredericksburg, Title of Work: Cold Moonlight

Caroline High School winners were:

1st Place: Jacob Schmitz

2nd Place: Jordan Skinner

3rd Place: Miranda Young

 

Caroline Middle School winners were:

2nd Place: Jonnae’ Rollins
