Man arrested for alleged sex crimes gets more charges
Kyle W. Huffman
BOWLING GREEN—An investigator pretended to be a 14-year-old girl on Facebook and Kyle Wayne Huffman, 20, of Bowling Green allegedly tried to set up an encounter with “her” at a gas station, said Major Scott Moser of the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigator agreed to meet Huffman behind a local gas station and that is where Huffman was arrested. At the time of his arrest, Huffman reportedly tried to throw away his cell phone but that failed. Investigators recovered the phone that had allegedly been used to access Facebook to solicit sex, the CCSO reported.
Huffman had already been arrested on Nov. 6 and charged with having consensual sex with a 14-year-old girl, Moser said. Huffman was out on bond when he went on the website a few days later and allegedly began communicating with the CCSO investigator who was posing as a 14-year-old girl.
“He proceeded to engage in a conversation about sex with a 14-year-old, which was our investigator, not the teen,” said Moser.
On Facebook, the fictitious female told Huffman she was 14, and he allegedly wrote to the fictitious teen: “As long as you ain’t no snitch. It would be alright.” He then asked the fictitious teen to meet him at a Caroline County gas station, Moser said.
Huffman is now being held without bond and faces two additional charges of using a communication device to solicit a juvenile under 15 years of age for sexual purposes and attempted carnal knowledge (without force) of a child, the CCSO reported.
“This does go on from time to time in Caroline County,” Moser said. “Parents must be aware of it and be vigilant of social network sites. It’s a huge issue. We arrest people for it occasionally in Caroline. There have been some cases when this happened and the girl actually went somewhere and met up with the guy.”
