REC offers the option to give the gift of electricity

FREDERICKSBURG—You can give a gift that can really make a difference – the gift of electricity. At Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) anyone can purchase a Gift of Electricity gift certificate for a friend or relative who has an electric account with REC.

“We have been offering this opportunity for years, and we have found that when our members receive this gift of a payment toward their electric account it means a lot to them and makes a big difference,” said Ann Lewis, director of communications and public relations.

“It’s something we encourage anyone to do who is looking to give a unique gift this holiday season.” Purchasing a Gift of Electricity gift certificate from REC is easy, according to Lewis. Visit www.myrec.coop and follow the directions available under the Cooperative’s services tab or call 1-800-552-3904 to speak with a member service representative. The recipient’s electric account will be credited in the amount of the gift and the purchaser will receive confirmation. In addition, the recipient will receive a letter stating that a donation has been made.

REC provides electric service to over 158,000 connections in parts of 22 Virginia counties. With its general office in Fredericksburg, REC operates and maintains more than 16,000 miles of power lines through its service area, which ranges from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
