The Caroline High School varsity boys’ basketball team opened their season Wednesday night with an overtime victory over visiting Monacan High School.
Caroline beat the Chesterfield County team 91-87. In what looked like it was going to be a runaway game in the first quarter, the Cavaliers distanced themselves from the Chiefs by a 31-8 margin, only to see Monacan come back and tie it up 84-84 at the end. The overtime was a free throw contest in which Caroline obtained their victory.
Caroline’s was the second game of the 4A-South Conference. In the game prior to Caroline vs. Monacan, the Glen Allen Jaguars used their disciplined play to disassemble the Dinwiddie Generals. Glen Allen clearly frustrated Dinwiddie with plays and communication on the court that showed a high caliber of team work not always seen in a high school game.
