Clyde Marshall Flagg Sr., 86 of Caroline County died Monday, December 30, 2013 in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Born in Golansville, Va., he was a Marine Corps veteran and had the distinction of being the first draftee from Virginia to serve during the Korean Conflict. He had a long career in the trucking industry, retiring after over 35 years as the owner of Flagg Leasing, Inc in Milford, Va. He was a Shriner and member of Kilwinning-Crosse Masonic Lodge 2-237 AF&AM. Clyde was a founding member of the Caroline Savings Bank board of directors and a Deacon at Bowling Green Baptist Church. A staunch Republican, he was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and a loving “Pop” to his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, C. Marshall Flagg Jr. and his wife, Elena, Lyell Evelyn Flagg and Virginia Gray Flagg and her husband, David Maples, four grandchildren, Marshall Flagg III, Thomas Flagg, William Flagg and Mikayla Maples; his sister, Christine Pitts and his ex-wife Virginia Livermon Flagg. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Jeanne Flagg Daily, W.D. Flagg and Fletcher Flagg.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 4th at 2:00 PM at Bowling Green Baptist Church with burial to follow at Lakewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Storke Funeral home in Bowling Green, Va. Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, with a Masonic service beginning at 7:30PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bowling Green Baptist Church, P.O. Box 543 Bowling Green, VA 22427
