Bridge inspections could cause delays on I-95

Bridge inspections in Caroline County could cause temporary lane closures and brief delays along Interstate 95 from Monday, Jan. 13 to Friday, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Monday – Thursday (9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.)

  • I-95 bridges  – between mile marker 107 located just north of Exit 104 (Rt. 207/Carmel Church) and mile marker 111 located just north of Exit 110 (Rt. 639/Ladysmith).

Friday (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

  • Route 639 – bridge over I-95 
  • Route 601 – bridge over I-95

Route 652 – bridge over I-95

Route 639 Widening

Route 639 or Ladysmith Road is being widened to create a new left turn lane near the Route 1 intersection.  During construction the posted speed limit will be lowered to 35 mph in the work zone. One lane will remain open in each direction during construction.  Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic patterns in this area. The project completion date is May 2015.
