Dorothy S. Brooks, 78, of Fredericksburg died Jan. 6, 2014 at home.
Mrs. Brooks was the daughter of the late Everett and Betty Sale. She was a native of Corbin, in Caroline County, and retired as the postmaster of the Corbin Post Office. Mrs. Brooks was a lifetime member of Round Oak Baptist Church, where she was the choir director for over 30 years. She and her first husband, the late Wade Hampton Dishman, ran Corbin Store for 20 years.
Survivors include her husband, Horace W. Brooks; three children, Karen Dishman Peters and husband, Scott of Winston-Salem, N.C., Keith Dishman and wife, Betsy of Fishersville, and Kirk Dishman and wife, Amy of Corbin; her husband’s children, Marcia Mills and husband, Michael of Fredericksburg, David Brooks and wife, Gail of Fredericksburg and Karen Baker-Snow of Spotsylvania County; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Phyllis Willis of Louisa County and Frances Taylor of Woodford.
The family received friends on Jan. 9 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A funeral service was on Jan. 10 at Round Oak Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
