Library events in May

Caroline Library, Inc., branches will host several events throughout the month of May.

The system will be closed May 26 for Memorial Day.

The Community Give, a 24-hour online-only giving marathon, is Tuesday, May 6, from 12 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. Go to www.thecommunitygive.org to donate to the Caroline Library on this one day and help the system qualify for even more funding.

Children’s Events

*Lapsit: (birth-3) Every Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. (stories, rhymes, and songs)

*Mother Goose Story Time: (ages 2- 5) Every Thursday, 10 a. m. to 11 a. m.

*Be Kind to Animals Week: Special program with Caroline Animal Control Wednesday, May 14, 10:30 a.m. in the Community Services Center Auditorium

*Crafty Kids: Saturday, May 10, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Make a Mother’s Day Card. Signup required.

Adult Events

*GED Classes: Every Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to noon, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and every Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to noon, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

*Get Crafty Caroline: Saturday, May 10, 2 p.m. Decorate Birdhouses: Celebrate the season and decoupage a small wooden birdhouse for our feathered friends. RSVP.

*Bedtime Stories: (ages 2-6) Thursdays, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. End the day with a wonderful story read by Aaron. Pajamas welcome! Do a craft or take one home for later.

*Baby Bookworms (ages 0-2): Fridays, 9:30 a.m. Start children early with a love for reading and the library. Enjoy short stories, rhymes, and other literacy activities for little ones with a caregiver.

Computer Help

*Walk In Computer Help with Ann: Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Thursdays, 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sign up for a one-on-one help session for any computer program or online problems.

Book Discussions and Author Talks

*Books for Entertainment Book Club: Wednesday, May 28, 1 p.m. “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan” by Lisa See. In 19th century China, in a remote Hunan county, a girl named Lily, at the tender age of 7, is paired with a laotong, an “old same,” in an emotional match that will last a lifetime. Call the library to reserve your copy.

*RAAA Seniors: First Thursday, 9:30 a.m. Come and participate in a variety of activities such as Bingo, Wii Bowling, and crafts.

*Couponing with Brandon: First and Third Thursdays, 6:30 p.m. Learn the ins and outs of saving money with coupons; share stories of your success. Have coupons you don’t use? Bring those to share!
