*The Caroline Middle School’s Student Council Association will sponsor a flea market and carwash from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the middle school. Spots are available for $10 to those wishing so sell items at the flea market; carwash is on a by donation basis. All proceeds will be given to Team Travis, an organization that is raising money for a Travis Compher as he battles cancer. For more information, call CMS at (804) 633-6561.
FLARE will promote amateur radio in Caroline County Virginia and nearby counties of Essex, King William, King & Queen and Northern Hanover that by their rural nature have limited access to the resources found in metropolitan areas. Licensed amateur radio operators and those aspiring to become licensed will receive initial and ongoing education, peer support, public advocacy and development of shared infrastructure radio systems. FLARE and its members will pursue the Federal Communications Commission’s mandate for amateur radio: “…providing the nation with a pool of trained radio operators and technicians who can provide essential communications during emergencies”.
Salt herring, scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, fried apples, biscuits, juice and coffee will be served. The breakfast will take place at 18206 Timothy Ln. Ladysmith beginning October 6th and continuing the first Saturday of each month. From Rt. 1 go west on Ladysmith Rd, take the first left onto Allen St., follow it around behind old Ladysmith Elementary, the club is on right.
*Bowling Green’s farmers market will be held every Saturday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on the lawn next to Union First Market Bank on Main Street.
*The Cub Scouts will be set up at the intersection of E. Broaddus Ave and A.P. Hill Blvd (Rte. 301) from 12 – 4 p.m. to sign up boys ages 6 to 10 years old for the 2013 – 2014 scouting season, and to give information and answer questions about Cub Scouts.
