Ellen Ruth McCaskey Hearn

Ellen Ruth McCaskey Hearn of Lewes, Delaware, formerly of Virginia, passed away peacefully at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. on Dec. 25, 2012 after a long illness.

Ms. Hearn, who was 85 and was born in Buckatunna, Miss., was the daughter of the late Henry Grady and Annie Grace McCaskey.

Before moving to Delaware she lived in Mobile, Ala., and in Virginia in Woodbridge, Ladysmith, and Richmond.

She retired from the Department of the Army at Fort Belvoir and afterward served as a volunteer at Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl L. Hearn; sister, Myra Grace Linam; and brother, Thomas G. McCaskey.

She is survived by children, Sue Hearn (Marsh Zellhoefer) of Lewes, Del., Robin Hearn of Sterling, and Richard Hearn (Betty) of Ladysmith; granddaughter, Kelsey Hearn of Ladysmith; sisters, Libba Mazingo and Betsy Pugh; brothers, Wallace (Frieda) and Duncan (Pat) McCaskey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at Melson Funeral Services in Millsboro, Del. Dec. 28. Another memorial service will be held in Mobile, Ala. at a later date.
