To the Editor, As the new year begins, I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the group of ladies who donated so many volunteer hours to the Caroline Christmas Partners. The “Partners” is a new initiative started in 2014 to provide gifts for children who otherwise might not have anything to open on Christmas morning. By Floyd Thomas Caroline Board of Supervisors Editor’s note: Floyd Thomas delivered the following State of the County address to the Caroline Rotary Club on Jan. 8. It has been edited for length. When we talk about the State of the County, we need to look at not only where we are but how we got here and most importantly, where we are going. We’ve been in slow recovery
To the Editor: I would like to thank the community for their generosity to the Thanksgiving program. This was a joint effort with the Food Resource Committee and the Caroline Department of Social Services. We had 17 sponsors that gave food, cash, and baskets for 57 families requesting holiday assistance. Some of the sponsors also delivered the baskets as well as the committee team. To the Editor: Years ago I had a friend that said, “Tell the truth and shame the devil.” Obviously, someone in our school system is not “shaming the devil.” I have worked with both Mary Anderson and Jeff Sili on behalf of the community and I have found both of them to be people that care for the community and are very honest. I am appalled, that for some odd
To the Editor: Re: Richard C. Grimes, Sr.’s letter to the editor in the November 27, 2014, edition of The Caroline Progress. I understand Mr. Grimes anger and frustration at his signature being forged on the petition in support of the Chaney Mine at Moss Neck. I would also be angry if my signature was forged on a petition. I take issue with most of Mr. Grimes’s other comments, however.
