The Caroline High School Junior Varsity and Varsity Baseball teams will represent Caroline County in North Carolina over spring break at a tournament.
This will be the first time in the history of the high school baseball program that teams will travel out of state. It will give the players an opportunity to experience a higher level of competition and prepare them for the challenging conference play they will encounter this year due to Virginia High School League changes that involve a broader range of schools.
The coaches, players, and parents have been working hard during the off-season to prepare for the season and to raise money for transportation, lodging, and meals for the team and coaches during their three nights in North Carolina.
The Baseball Boosters club has set up two main ways to raise money. The first is a website to accept secure donations. These donations will help cover the cost of transportation to and from coastal North Carolina. Even though the team would like to thank donors individually, donations may be made anonymously.
The web address is http://www.gofundme.com/6r6ipg. Donations may be made directly to Coach Frank Dow or Robin Didlake at the high school, too.
The Caroline baseball team will also host a bowling tournament at Liberty Lanes in Fredericksburg on Saturday, March 15 from noon to 2 p.m. The cost is $150 for a team of five. The $150 cost includes: lane charges, pizza, soda and prizes. Team registration begins Feb. 27, 2014. Contact Ron Carter for information about the bowling tournament at email@example.com.
