This is the photo worth $2,500. Lane Catlett, head athletic trainer at Caroline High, works with two athletic training student aides, Blake Seal (in softball uniform) and Krystle Mountjoy.

Sometimes a picture can be worth more than a thousands words, and in the case of Caroline High School, it was worth $2,500 in athletic rehabilitative equipment.

Caroline High School’s Athletic Training Classes entered a national contest with SportsHealth, a national organization that sells athletic equipment, rehabilitation supplies, and exercise equipment.

The contest was titled “2013 Day in the Life of an Athletic Trainer Photo Contest.” Schools were invited to upload the pictures on Facebook to represent a day in the life of an athletic trainer.

Prizes were $2,500 for the most votes on a picture and $750 for the second most votes and a third category was $2,500 for the best photo representing the contest.

“We won first place in the vote category by almost 3,000 votes!” said Lane Catlett, head athletic trainer at CHS. “We had 6,300 votes to the second place winner’s  3,100 votes.  The community and students were the reason behind this!”

The picture will be placed in an upcoming issue of SportsHealth’s magazine, Catlett said.

The prize is in the form of a $2,500 gift card for use at SportsHealth. “We are going to put the money toward equipment that the school needs to help with rehabilitative services for injuries,” Catlett said.
