The Community Foundation’s Scholarship Program is made up of 38 different scholarship funds established by generous individuals and families who want to strengthen our community and assist area young people by advancing education.
Six new funds have been added since last year’s scholarship award cycle, including: The Linda and Billy Beale Scholarship Fund; the Robert H. Bradley Jr. Memorial Golf Scholarship Fund; the Rosie Lee Dawson Scholarship Fund; the Betty Booker Lontz Scholarship Fund; the Reverand Douglas T. Pinkard Memorial Scholarship Fund and the George D. Taylor Scholarship Fund (formerly administered by BB&T Wealth).
Some scholarships are merit-based, while others are need- and merit-based. Some focus on student athletes and others support a future field of study, such as nursing or business. Some are available to seniors throughout the region and others are offered only to students in specific localities or schools. Students may apply for more than one scholarship.
The Community Foundation’s scholarship application process is now completely paperless. High school seniors can access the new online scholarship application portal at www.cfrrr.org/apply-for-grants-and-scholarships. The new, required scholarship forms can only be found online.
