Pirate Day Celebration

The Town of Port Royal will host a Pirate Day Celebration on Sept. 16 from 10 to 7 p.m. Activities, music and vendors.  Spend the day in Port Royal. Historic Port Royal will have both the Medical Museum and the Museum of American History open from 10 to 4 p.m.

Ikebana, the art of Japanese Flower Arrangement

Community Appreciation day

The Rockville Fire Company – Station 9 will hold a Community Appreciation day Saturday, September 23 from 10-3 p.m. This community event focuses on fun and learning. It is a family, all ages activity. Come have lunch with us and meet your area emergency responders. You may come away better prepared to help others. No cost, admission is free.  We’ll feature equipment displays and demonstrations.  Health Screenings (limited) with HCA Va.  Fire Prevention and Life Safety information.  Free food available.  See Hands Only CPR basics, A Med Flight Helicopter will be displayed and we will introduce, “Dedicate”, our new Fire Engine.  For additional information call 749 – 3191. HPR will host special guest Faye Benjamin

On Sept. 23 HPR will host special guest Faye Benjamin from 1:30-3:30 p.m. She is a Caroline author who will share her recent books. She is currently planning to write a mystery and another Civil War story.  Her first Civil War novel, RIVER OF TEARS, was about her great-grandfather’s life and service in the 61st Virginia Infantry Regiment.  A limited number of her books will be available for sale.

Community Outreach & Reviva

Community Outreach & Revival, September 23, starting at 3 p.m. At Wallers Baptist Church  4001 Partlow Road in Spotsylvania County, 540-582-5703  Outreach ministries, stuff the bus to support Rehoboth Methodist Church ministries, children’s activities, food, puppetz4Jesus, music, bands, food.  Music to be headlined by:  Mercy’s Well Hosted by: First New Hope, Beulah & Wallers Baptist Churches.  All activities are free except food, donations will be sent to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.

Big Band of Fredericksburg

Join the Big Band of Fredericksburg for some 40s era music while dancing at our original USO Club (now the Bowling Green Town Hall). The time is 8 to 11 p.m. It’s a BYOB event with mixes and snacks provided free. Advance tickets are $12, Tickets at the door, $15. All “Package Deals” that include a reserved table have been SOLD OUT. Tickets may be purchased at the Caroline Visitor Center, the Bowling Green Town Hall or online at: USOCONCERTFREDERICKSBURGBIGBAND.EVENTBRITE.COM. The County will be honoring WWI & WWII Veterans during a 3-day event which will feature the History Mobile Sept 21 & 22 located at B.G. Town Hall parking lot, plus the museums located in Bowling Green and Port Royal are featuring artifacts and memorabilia from that era. For information regarding the dance call 633-3490.

Kevin Mac to Perform in Caroline County @ Bowling Green Event Hall

Kevin MacThe Caroline Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a concert ticket event headlining Kevin Mac formerly of King George and local band favorite, Runnin’ Hot. The event takes place on Saturday, March 2 at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. at Bowling Green Event Hall (Town Hall).

Tickets will be available on for $20 per person.

You must be 21 years to attend. The event will not sell alcohol, but concertgoers can bring their own alcohol beverages. Light refreshments and table set-ups will be provided.

Mac will perform some original songs as well as southern rock and country songs. He is currently residing in Va. Beach and has been in Country Music Radio since he was 18.

Kevin’s opened for industry heavy hitters Martina McBride, Phil
Vassar, Darryl Worley and has gotten a nod from Kenney Chesney, 
who he also opened up for in some 2008 concerts and more recently last summer he opened for Trace Atkins at Celebrate Virginia Live in Fredericksburg. Locally he performs frequently at Hard Times Restaurant/Bar.

Born in King George County, VA, Mac was bred on country/bluegrass
music and raised in the church. He began his career as a radio
personality and deejay in Virginia, which led to opportunities for him
to, perform. 

He is a graduate of Old Dominion University where he received a BS in Communications/Mass Media.

Bowling Green Christmas Parade @ Main Street

The Christmas Parade of Lights and art show will add lots of local color to Main Street Bowling Green this Saturday, Dec. 12. The parade starts at Maury Avenue at 5 p.m. and rolls north on Main Street. Come early to stake out a good spot and see the art show, open to all Caroline students and sponsored by the Bowling Green Arts Commission, from noon to 5 p.m. at 121 Main St. (next to Union Station).
