The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region will award grants to charitable organizations that strive to meet critical needs Caroline County.
The foundation’s board of governors has singled out charitable organizations that serve Caroline County and its citizens as its priority to receive competitive grants through its community enrichment fund. By adding a matching opportunity for local donors to contribute at any level, the fund also allows residents of Caroline to participate in the grant process.
The Community Foundation allies with and supports local individuals, families and businesses to preserve regional assets and improve the quality of life for communities. This successful strategy is based on a simple principle: When people work together to focus available resources in order to help fund successful programs or implement promising new projects, they are assured of significant, far-reaching results.
The Community Foundation’s 2013 competitive grantmaking will focus on programs and projects that demonstrate:
• An in-depth understanding of the needs in Caroline County,
• A thoroughly planned and developed proposal that addresses the need.
The minimum grant awarded will be $1,000, and the maximum grant awarded will be $15,000.
The foundation expects most proposals to be one-time projects or to be about one year in duration. Interested organizations are urged to contact foundation staff to discuss program and project ideas, especially for multi-year efforts.
Applications will be judged by the following deciding factors:
• The potential impact of the project (particularly lasting benefits).
• The efficient use of grant dollars.
• The demonstrated ability of the organization to implement the project.
• Grant dollars must be used in Caroline County only.
Grant reviewers will also consider: the number of people who will benefit, the use of collaborative partnerships, and the promotion of volunteer efforts.
Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. June 3. Applications may not be submitted by e-mail or fax. Awards will be announced the week of June 24.
