*Caroline High School class of 1984 is hosting its 30th class reunion Nov. 28 and 29. The event will be held at the Virginia Center Commons Wyndham Hotel in Glen Allen. *The Port Royal Museum of American History is open to the public each Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Groups interested in additional times may schedule tours by calling (804) 742-5406 or (804) 742-5654. Admission is free.
*The food pantry at Bowling Green United Methodist Church is open on the third Thursday of every month. Doors open at 5 p.m. for registration. Food will be distributed from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
*RT 639 Farmers Market, located in the front parking lot at the old Ladysmith Elementary School, 7278 Ladysmith Road, is open each Thursday through Sept. 25. Food trucks are on hand as well as vendors offering competitively priced vegetables, fruits, eggs, breads, baked goods, herbs, spices, plants, homemade goods and children’s activities. In addition there are vendors that offer local farm-raised meats and organic and non-GMO options for fruits and vegetables. *Bowling Green Community Farmers Market, located on the front lawn of Union Bank, 211 N Main St, is open every Saturday until October 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
*Glory Outreach, a clothing and food ministry, relocated to 144 E. Broaddus Ave. on July 1. The hours remain the same: Tuesdays from 6 – 8 p.m. and Fridays from 10 – noon.
*The Sidney E. King Art Center, located next to the Courthouse on Main St., Bowling Green, is open Wednesday – Saturday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Featuring 15 of King’s famous Civil War paintings that were once on display at local National Park battlefield sites showing scenes from the battles of Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and the Wilderness. The Caroline Historical Society has a room at the Center, and there is a gallery of artwork for sale by Virginia artists.
*Music on the Green, located on the Courthouse Lawn, Bowling Green, is every Friday evening from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. beginning July 18 – Aug. 22. This is a free, family-friendly event with kids’ entertainment, giveaways, and food vendors. A patriotic painting by Jim Thomas will be auctioned off Aug. 22.
*Fall 2014 Master Gardener Class, located at the Stafford County Virginia Cooperative Extension Office, 1739 Jefferson Davis Highway, Stafford, is being held Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Sept. 9 for 12 weeks, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Deadline to register is Sept. 1 or until filled.
