Abbie R. Howell, 93, of Bowling Green died Friday, Sept. 12. Born in Mississippi, he was the widow of Ruth E. Howell and had retired as a CWO4 in the United States Navy. During his almost 30-year Navy career, he served during both WWII and Korea and was assigned to several ships and the US Naval Academy.     Mary L. Janish, 63, of Ruther Glen passed quietly into the arms of God on March 29, 2014 in Mary Washington Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and had retired after 10 years from Peumansend Creek Regional Jail. Prior to that, she had worked for G&H Pants Factory in Fredericksburg and also worked for the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office for 16 years.
