The Caroline Lady Cavaliers varsity team hosted the annual Christmas basketball tournament at Caroline High School on Dec. 27 and 28 and won both games.
The Cavaliers dominated the King William Cavs in the first round and the final score was 80 to 29.
Hope Toliver, a sophomore, led the team with 26 points and 19 rebounds. Bo Hayes, a senior, led the team also with 26 points and 14 rebounds.
Other scorers were Jazmen Moore with 12, Deliequa Parker with 8, Lexi Brown with 4, Jayla McNeil with 3 and KeAsia Butler 1.
The Lady Cavs also defeated Essex High School 65 to 33 in the championship game of the tournament on Dec. 28.
Hayes was named the most valuable player throughout the tournament. Hayes led the team with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Toliver had another double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 13 rebounds, while McNeil had 14 points. Moore had 10 points and Butler had 2 points.
Head Coach Tim Marshall said he was extremely pleased with his team’s performance.
“We played team ball and everyone contributed to winning first place,” said Marshall.
