James "Pop" Allen, 78, of Sparta died Wednesday May 19, 2010 at his home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Caroline, he had retired as a farmer and carpenter. A member of Salem Baptist Church for 68 years, he was a Deacon and a long time member of the cemetery committee.
He was also active in the Sparta Fire Department, Sparta Ruritan Club and the Sportsman Hunt Club. Survivors include his wife, Frances Satterwhite Allen; his daughter, Diane Stanley and her husband Les; his son, Mike Allen and his wife Lori; his sister, Lucy Edwards; six grandchildren, Aaron Stanley, Kristen Stanley, Kelsi...
