Family affair lands five in jail
By Tabitha LaRue

At a time when most families are thinking of spending time with their loved ones around the dinner table, one Caroline family is spending time together behind bars.

According to Sheriff Tony Lippa, his investigations department executed a search warrant on the home of Gloria Stevens, on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 2. The warrant was the result of an “intensive drug investigation over several months,” which started in July of this year.

It is the second warrant to be served on Stevens’ home since the investigation began. The first search warrant, which was served on July 2, resulted in the arrest of her husband and then 20-year-old daughter, Sherenda Stevens.

This time, more of the family-including Irvin Stevens, 57, Gloria

Stevens, 54, Saleem Stevens, 26, Shane Stevens, 24 and 21-year-old Sherenda Stevens-was arrested on several drug-related charges.

All five family members are charged with Possession of Heroin, Ecstasy and Cocaine, with the intent to distribute. They are also all charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Firearm while in possession of drugs.

“We are taking a hard stance to try and rid distribution of drugs in

Caroline County,” the Sheriff said.

Approximately 66 grams of Crack Cocaine, 35 grams of Heroin and approximately 12 ecstasy tablets were seized from the house at 29411 Secretariat Rd. The Sheriff’s Office also confiscated a .22 caliber rifle, 6 vehicles and the family’s home, which is valued at $77,500.

The search of the home in July produced only a small amount of Marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a .357 Magnum handgun.

Sheriff Lippa says other charges against the family are still pending, upon the completion of the investigation, which is still ongoing.

All family members, with the exception of Gloria Stevens, are being held in Pamunkey Regional Jail without bond. Gloria Stevens was released the following day on a $7,500 bond.
