- Format: Top seed earns a bye; remaining 14 teams play opening-round matchups.
Virginia claimed the top seed and the only bye after a solid regular season. The rest of the field faces single-elimination games that can turn on a single moment. Wake Forest, last year’s champion, proved a lower seed can still run the table.
