Roller Skating Didn't Die With The 80's

The young spunky girl with blond ponytail and adult teeth pushing through her gums has her sights set on achieving the second of two major athletic goals over the last year. Next week, she will take on the biggest challenge-Junior Olympics Roller Skating Nationals. Colleen Jenkins will celebrate her 12th birthday during the elimination round of Level 1, Division B National Roller Skating Championship in Lincoln, Neb. Leading up to the final round, she will compete with 36 other skaters, twice as many as other competitions. Though she enjoys skating and competing, Colleen, of Ruther Glen, first got into the sport by following her brother's footsteps into roller skates.
