Caroline's Promise makes a call for more help in 2005 Caroline County children benefit from one of 13 model programs in the country.
At a meeting on July 27, County Administrator and Advisor for Caroline's Promise Percy Ashcraft made a call for more volunteers, which the program desperately needs if it is to accomplish the plans for 2004 to 2006.
"If you wear the little red wagon, it gives you the opportunity to be infectious and share with another," he said. "Strength in numbers, that's what the Promise does."
Promise Chair Lorri McManus thanked the over 20 people who braved rain and thunder for coming and showing their commitment to improving the quality of life of the children in the county. "You are here tonight, because you don't want to just talk about it," McManus said. "You want to do something about it."
Other speakers at the meeting included - Lunch Buddy Pat Wright, Promise Captain Sonya Lewis and Youth Advisory Council Member Melissa Armstead. The theme of each was the need to increase the number of volunteers involved in the program and to give examples of its value.
