Caroline County- A Beaverdam woman was killed August 18 (Tuesday) in a two vehicle crash in Caroline County. The crash occurred on Route 639 (Lady Smith Road) 125 feet west of Route 738 (Anderson Mill Road).
Virginia State Police Trooper S. R. Page is investigating the crash.
A 1995 Mack Truck was traveling west on Route 639, as it went around a curve it crossed the double yellow line and turned over onto a 2007 Pontiac traveling east. The contents of the truck (stumps limbs, etc) spilled onto the car and the road way.
The driver of the 1995 Mack, Gary E. Hudson, 50 of Unionville, Virginia was not injured in the crash; he was wearing a seatbelt. The driver (sole occupant) of the 2007 Pontiac, Gwendolyn L. Gray, 64 of Beaverdam, Virginia died at the scene, she was not wearing a seatbelt. Hudson was charged with Reckless Driving.
Speed is being considered a factor in the crash.
The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting with the crash which remains under investigation
