WEB_Track hurdles BM short 2 #5 0051[4]The annual Caroline invitational track meet last Friday at Caroline High School had 25 teams participating from as far away as Tabb High School in Yorktown and Chopticon High School in southern Maryland. With over 300 athletes competing, the competition was strong and exciting.

The Caroline Cavaliers were well represented, with each Cavalier presenting a different face as they awaited their opportunity to show what they could do. Shareef Gardner, who participated in four events, had a stoic face that belied his concentration as he prepared for the 110- and 300-meter hurdles. Darius Young was a little more laid back, which paid off for him as he earned a second in the high jump with a height of 5’10.

When asked how he felt about competing in a meet of this magnitude, Young simply replied, “It’s just another meet. There are more people here, but that makes it more fun, more competitive.”
