Caroline High School participated in a two-day conference track meet last Thursday and Friday at Atlee High School.
The boys’ team placed fourth with a total of 100 points. A high performer was Christopher Jackson, who placed first in the 110-meter high hurdles, qualifying for the state competition, second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, third in long jump and fourth in the triple jump. Shareef Gardner placed third in pole vault, fifth in high jump, sixth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, and fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles.
Jacob Flaherty placed fifth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles and Elijah Archier fourth in pole vault and third in the 400-meter dash. Reginald Twisdale was first in the 400-meter dash and sixth in the 800-meter run; Wade Reynolds placed sixth in triple jump; and Darius Young placed fourth in high jump.
For the relays, Jonathan Brown, William Rollins, Darius Young, and Christopher Jackson placed second in the 4-by-100-meter relay; and Reginald Twisdale, Wade Reynolds, Elijah Archier, and Jacob Flaherty placed second in the 4-by-400-meter relay.
The CHS girls’ team placed sixth with 37.5 points. The following girls will go on to the regional competition: Sydney Lyons (fourth in pole vault), Alantra Mines (first in 100-meter dash, sixth in long jump, second in triple jump), and Jordyn Jefferson (sixth in 200-meter dash).
For the relays, Malia Herndon, Jordyn Jefferson, Sydney Lyons and Alantra Mines set a conference record, placing first in the 4-by-100-meter relay.
On May 29–30, CHS will host the Group 4A South Regional Track Championship starting at 3 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday, with 23 schools competing.
