Experienced journalist Constance Snow has been appointed Editor of the Caroline Progress effective Aug. 3. She replaces Greg Glassner, who is retiring.
A resident of northern Essex County, Snow has more than 30 years in the newspaper and publishing business, having worked as a columnist for the Times-Picayune in New Orleans for 15 years and contributed to many national and regional publications, such as Food & Wine, National Geographic Traveler, Bride’s Magazine, Los Angeles Times and Miami Herald. She is the author of 11 books, including Gulf Coast Kitchens: Bright Flavors from Key West to the Yucatan, which won the 2004 IACP award for best American cookbook.
“Like the slogan on a colleague’s coffee mug, ‘I love the smell of newsprint in the morning,’” Snow said. “I am excited about this opportunity to get back to the work I enjoy most.”
Glassner, the former editor of the Herald-Progress in Ashland, came out of retirement March 2 to replace Dan Sherrier, who left the CP at the end of February to edit the Herald-Progress. Glassner will continue at the CP as senior correspondent and contributing editor.
“We are indeed fortunate to find an editor of Snow’s experience,” said Caroline Progress publisher Chip Wigginton.
“She understands what it takes to produce a lively newspaper that is responsive to the needs of the community it serves,” he added.
