A 21-year-old Caroline County man was killed Wednesday night when the pickup truck he was driving went off the road and struck a tree in the Carmel Church area.
James A. Trivette, 21, who lived on Devils Three Jump Road in Milford, died at the scene, Virginia State Police reported.
Trivette, who was wearing a safety belt, was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck west on Coolwater Drive. The accident occurred about one-quarter of a mile north of the intersection with Moncure Drive shortly before 9 p.m., said State Police Sgt. Thomas Molnar.
Speed was considered a factor in the crash, and it is still under investigation, said Molnar.
Trivette was employed as a steamfitter apprentice for R.M. Thornton. He was a member of the Steamfitters Union Local 602 of Washington, D.C., and he had been accepted by a technical school for apprenticeship training.
