When the oval track at the Dominion Raceway & Entertainment complex in Woodford kicks off its new season, one of the up and comers in the racing scene will be revving up his engine.
The series that compete at the track all season long will begin their schedule on April 8, but prior to that, the CARS Late Model Stock Tour and the CARS Super Late Model Tour will be in town on Saturday, March 25.
The two touring series run races throughout the southeastern United States and are a critical part of the ladder to NASCAR.
The event will mark the first time that either series competed at Dominion Raceway, which enters its second year of existence.
Among those in the Super Late Model race will be Christian Eckes, from Greenville, New York, who will run full time in that series.
Eckes, who turned 16 years old in November, took the racing world by storm in December when he edged NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver John Hunter Nemechek by 0.017 of a second to win the 2016 Snowball Derby.
The Snowball Derby, ran at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida, is one of the most prestigious Late Model events on the schedule.
