*The Humane Society of Caroline County, Inc. is currently seeking vendors for its spring fundraiser, Paws Gone Country, which will be held Saturday, May 31 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Mr. B’s Bluegrass Park. *The food pantry at Bowling Green United Methodist Church is open on the third Thursday of every month. Doors open at 5 p.m. for registration. Food will be distributed from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
*RT 639 Farmers Market, located in the front parking lot at the old Ladysmith Elementary School, 7278 Ladysmith Road, is now open each Saturday through Sept. 25. Food trucks are on hand as well as vendors offering competitively priced vegetables, fruits, eggs, breads, baked goods, herbs, spices, plants, homemade goods and children’s activities. In addition there are vendors that offer local farm-raised meats and organic and non-GMO options for fruits and vegetables. *Caroline County Public Schools is holding its first Little Feet Meet at Caroline High School from 10 a.m. – noon. This is an event for qualified disabled students in grades K through 12 sponsored by Special Olympics of Virginia.

*The Caroline County Agricultural Fair is hosting a community yard sale at its fair grounds, located in Ruther Glen, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Tables are currently available for people interested in selling their items and for non-food vendors. The cost is $10 per space; email carolinefairgrounds@gmail.com to reserve your space. Shelter is provided; tables and chairs are not.
*The Humane Society of Caroline County, Inc. is participating in The Longest Yard Sale from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the old Ladysmith Elementary School and is collecting slightly used donations (no clothes, please) that may be dropped off at Village Self Storage in Ladysmith between 4–7 p.m. on May 14. *Reedy Church Ruritan Club is hosting a Relay for Life Variety Show beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8. In addition to the show, there will be a Cakes and Pies Auction and a 50/50 raffle. *The Caroline County Garden Club is meeting at 11 a.m. at Wright’s Chapel United Methodist Church, in Ladysmith. Linda Marchman, owner of Social Butterflies, will present “How to attract a variety of butterflies,” followed by a live butterfly release in the garden.
