*Caroline High School class of 1984 is hosting its 30th class reunion Nov. 28 & 29. The event will be held at the Virginia Center Commons Wyndham Hotel in Glen Allen. *The Port Royal Museum of American History is open to the public each Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Groups interested additional times may schedule tours by calling (804) 742-5406 or (804) 742-5654. Admission is free.

*The Humane Society of Caroline County, Inc. is currently seeking vendors for its spring fundraiser, Paws Gone Country, which will be held Saturday, May 31 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Mr. B’s Bluegrass Park. Information and an online application and payment are available through the website, www.carolinehumanesociety.org, or applications may be requested by calling (804) 516-2105.

*The food pantry at Bowling Green United Methodist Church is open on the third Thursday of every month. Doors open at 5 p.m. for registration. Food will be distributed from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

*RT 639 Farmers Market, located in the front parking lot at the old Ladysmith Elementary School, 7278 Ladysmith Road, is now open each Saturday through Sept. 25. Food trucks are on hand as well as vendors offering competitively priced vegetables, fruits, eggs, breads, baked goods, herbs, spices, plants, homemade goods and children’s activities. In addition there are vendors that offer local farm-raised meats and organic and non-GMO options for fruits and vegetables. *Caroline County Public Schools is holding its first Little Feet Meet at Caroline High School from 10 a.m. – noon. This is an event for qualified disabled students in grades K through 12 sponsored by Special Olympics of Virginia.

*VFW Post 10295 will have a Spaghetti Dinner from 4 – 6 p.m. at the VFW Post 10295 building, A. P. Hill Blvd, Rte. 301 North. A donation of $10 per person is suggested. For more information call Recon, QM, VFW Post 10295 at (804) 761-3365.

*The Caroline County Agricultural Fair is hosting a community yard sale at its fair grounds, located in Ruther Glen, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Tables are currently available for people interested in selling their items and for non-food vendors. The cost is $10 per space; email carolinefairgrounds@gmail.com to reserve your space. Shelter is provided; tables and chairs are not.

*The Humane Society of Caroline County, Inc. is participating in The Longest Yard Sale from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the old Ladysmith Elementary School and is collecting slightly used donations (no clothes, please) that may be dropped off at Village Self Storage in Ladysmith between 4–7 p.m. on May 14. If this time is inconvenient, please call (804) 867-7534 to arrange pick-up prior to the 14th.

*Reedy Church Ruritan Club is hosting a Relay for Life Variety Show beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8. In addition to the show, there will be a Cakes and Pies Auction and a 50/50 raffle. *The Caroline County Garden Club is meeting at 11 a.m. at Wright’s Chapel United Methodist Church, in Ladysmith. Linda Marchman, owner of Social Butterflies, will present “How to attract a variety of butterflies,” followed by a live butterfly release in the garden. Club members should bring a covered dish; dessert and beverages will be provided. *The Town of Bowling Green in conjunction with The Bowling Arts Commission is having a dedication ceremony at 11 a.m. at the corner of Broaddus Ave and N. Main Street followed by a tribute to local musician John Cephas, performed by guitarist and singer John Flowers at 1 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.

*The Caroline County Agricultural Fair is holding its annual Independence Day celebration from 1:30 – 6:30 p.m. Events include a classic car show, antique tractors, kid’s pedal tractors, corn hole, and music from Evan Barlow Music, Patsy Cline Country Classics, and the Real Deal Band. Admission is $8; children $10 and under are free.

*The DeJarnette Family is holding its annual family reunion beginning at noon at Childrey Baptist Church in North Halifax County. Descendants of John (Jean) DeJarnette, who came to America from France in 1699, and those of Capt. James P. DeJarnette of the Revolutionary War are invited.
