The Caroline Lady Cavs took a 3-1 loss to JR Tucker in the first round of the conference tournament play to end their season 7-12.

It was the third inning that put the Cavs away as starting pitcher Summer Simulcik effectively shut down the Tigers in the first two innings.

In the third inning, Tucker center fielder Stephanie Fleming started off the inning with a single. With one out, first baseman AnneMarie Beran brought Fleming home with a triple.

At this point the Cavaliers contributed to the Tiger cause by overthrowing a ball to hit by Tiger short stop Kristan Latham. The error on Kelsey Ambrose allowed Beran to score the second run of the inning.

It was three up and three down for Simulcik over the next two innings. In the bottom of the sixth, Tucker scored one more run assisted by an error by Cavalier third baseman Blake Seal. With one run scored in the bottom of the sixth and a runner in scoring position, Seal came to the mound in relief and struck out two to end the inning.

After a non-productive top of the seventh, the game ended with the score J.R. Tucker 3, Caroline 0.

Kara Deppe was the winning pitcher allowing one hit while striking out 11 and walking only one. Simulcik, charged with the loss, had four hits, three runs, and 12 walks added to her stats while striking out five.
