Mary L. Janish, 63, of Ruther Glen passed quietly into the arms of God on March 29, 2014 in Mary Washington Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and had retired after 10 years from Peumansend Creek Regional Jail. Prior to that, she had worked for G&H Pants Factory in Fredericksburg and also worked for the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office for 16 years.
Elvira Campbell Gravatt, 87, of Ashland, went home to be with her Lord on March 19, 2014. She is survived by her sons, William Campbell (Betty), James Preston, and Gene Boyd Gravatt (Geralyn); her daughter, Sandra Ellen Gravatt; four grandchildren, Anthony, Kasi, Andy and Brittany; and sister, Lillian C. Mary E. Childs, 88, of Bowling Green departed this life on Feb. 23, 2014 at her residence. She was born on Aug. 13, 1925, to the late Otis and Mary Lou Minor. Elvin Wayne Harmon Jr., 50, of Woodford died March 7 in Alexandria Hospital. He worked as a sheet rock hanger and loved fishing and NASCAR. Bobby Gene Tignor, 75, passed away on Feb. 26, 2014 at home and surrounded by his loving family. He moved to Poquoson from Caroline County in 1958 at age 19, and worked at the Newport News Shipyard from 1958 until 1996.
