It is not every day in Caroline County that missionaries come to town.
Missionaries Brent and Shelley Teague will be the guest speakers at the Caroline Community Services Center on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 5 p.m. as part of a multi-church event.
Salem Baptist Church is heading the event, while Oxford Mount Zion Baptist Church and Bowling Green Baptist Church are also sponsors, with other churches likely to be involved in some capacity.
The Teague’s are currently serving in Cote d’Ivoire, or the Ivory Coast, in West Africa, as missionaries with the Assemblies of God World Missions.
There are two main facets of Teague’s ministry. He plants and constructs churches in the area as one of the ministries. Through a partnership with One Hope International, Teague has the authorization of Ivory Coast’s government to distribute Christian literature to the local schools for the other ministry.
The two ministries go hand in hand, as Teague will invite the school children and their parents to a festival that often leads to more churches being planted.
“One Hope with the kids give us access to the community and the parents,” Teague said.
Teague said he builds churches that will seat 300 people.
