Randolph Rusk, a Ladysmith McDonald’s employee, is the first recipient of a high school diploma in the Greater Richmond area and the surrounding region through McDonald’s Archways to Opportunity program. A graduation celebration with Randolph’s family, colleagues and McDonald’s representatives was held at the Ladysmith McDonald’s on Saturday, March 11.

Outside of the McDonald’s located at 8265 Ladysmith Rd., Ruther Glen, were blue and yellow balloons, with a sign posted on the front window that reads, “Congrats Grad!”

Inside the restaurant, in the dining area were more balloons, with a table that has a blue and white cake with a winding tower of cupcakes on each side. Raised highly was a banner that reads, “Congratulations! Randolph Rusk, We are very proud of you!”

This was not an ordinary graduation, but a first of its kind in the Greater Richmond and surrounding area, and an achievement of persistence for 36-year-old, Randolph Rusk.
