When school is out for summer vacation, millions of children across the nation lose access to the free and reduced-price meals they receive during the school year.
This summer, Kids on the Go, a program of the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Fresh meals will be provided to all children without charge. In addition to the meals, children will be engaged in various activities such as arts and crafts, reading and physical activities.
Meals will be provided at the Caroline Family YMCA, 17422 Library Blvd. in Ladysmith, Tuesday through Thursday, now through Aug 13.
The program is also available at three branches of the Caroline County Library on the following days: Bowling Green Branch, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; Dawn Branch, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; Port Royal Branch, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and 1-2 p.m. on Thursdays.
Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, sex, color, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, political affiliation, or against otherwise qualified persons with disabilities. There will be no meal programs on July 2 because of the Independence Day holiday.
