Kathryn C. “Susie” Acors, 53 of Ruther Glen went to meet God Sunday, August 13, 2017, after battling cancer for five years. Susie is survived by her husband, Alfred Acors; her son, Michael Lee Finney; her step children, Nicholas Acors and Crystal Acors; her mother, Violet Edmonds; her sisters, Mary Lee Williams and Betty Butler; her brothers, Wallace “Mutt”, Charles and Thomas Allen; four grandchildren; her mother in law, Nateline Acors and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Wallace Allen. The family will receive friends at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, Wednesday, August 16th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 17th at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Katherine M. Garrett, 90 years old from Fredericksburg passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the home of her son, Nelson and his wife, Donna Street by her side. Katherine is preceded in death by her husband, William David Garrett. She is survived by her sons, Nelson and his wife, Donna R. Street of Fredericksburg and Lloyd Street; six grandchildren, Amy Street Selby, Stephen and Lauren Ashley Ward, Christopher Street, Max McClellan, Melanie Davis and a special friend, Sharon Weiss and seven great-grandchildren, Sean Selby, Lilliana Ward, Danielle Dunivan, Maci Davis, Paisley Davis, Mikylee McClellan, and Craven McClellan ; a sister, Doris M. Parrish; her brother-in-law, Harold Brown both of Doswell and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much and a special friend, Sharon Weiss. Katherine was a longtime member of Salem Baptist Church of Sparta, VA and had retired from Union Bank and Trust. In her younger years she was a Sunday School teacher at Salem Baptist Church. Katherine was very active with Daughters of the Confederacy for many years and made many lap robes for the veterans. The family would like to thank Mary Washington Hospice of Fredericksburg for her care during the last two months. A funeral service was held 2:00 PM Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin James officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
