Joan Elliott Gardner, 84, died June 8, 2015, in Williamsburg, Va.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Mabel Elliott, of Bowling Green. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Carlyle Gardner; four sons, Michael (Laura), John (Kelly), Robert and Scott; four grandchildren, Brandy, Brittney, Brandon and Brooke; and one great-grandson, Liam Gardner. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Gordon Elliott Turner (George) of Richmond, Va., and one nephew, Timothy Alan Turner.
Visitation and reception will be held Friday, June 12, 6 to 8 p.m., at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3758 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188, (757) 565-1141.

Robert Edward Hughes, 73, of Caroline died peacefully in his sleep Monday, May 25, 2015.
Born in Caroline, he was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lucy Hughes, and his wife, Nancy Jo Hughes.
He was a Navy veteran who retired from Phillip Morris. He attended St. Paul’s Methodist Church and sang in the choir. He was a Civil War expert who enjoyed his Tuesday nights at the “Liars Club” in Chester. He had a love for music, bowling, good food, and spending time with his Hanover Café family.
He is survived by Bobby Lee Dog; four children, Deirdre (Dee) Beverly and her husband Timothy, Anne Baker, Russel Pease, and Butch Pease; twelve grandchildren, including his first grandson, Steele Myers, with whom he had a close bond; two great-grandsons; Brian Doggett, who Robert loved like a son; a very close friend, Julie Hicks; his many cousins including Gladys and Ernie Norris, Jackie and Bill Stanley and Bray Young; a large extended family; and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 14, 2015, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 25187 Signboard Road, Ruther Glen, VA 22546, the Rev. Mark Lawrence officiating. Burial will be done in a private ceremony at Bethel UMC, 17380 Dawn Blvd, Hanover, VA 23069.

Mrs. Emma Jean Moore, 71, of Chester, S.C., died Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at her home.
Funeral services were to be held 11 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2015, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel with Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating. Entombment will be at the mausoleum at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road, Rock Hill.
Born in Washington, D.C., Mrs. Moore was married to the late Rufus S. Moore, Jr. and was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Branham and Bonnie Kay Davis Branham; brother, Joe Branham; and her sisters, Jessie White and Loretta Hohenstein. She was a retired registered nurse and was former owner of the Rivers Healthcare Home Health Agency. She was vice president of the Lucy Holcombe Pickens United Daughters of the Confederacy Chapter 2700 in Chester and a member of Women of the Moose Club Chapter 3000 and the Pilot Club of Chester.
Survivors include her daughter, Angela Jackson (Chris Robinson) of Richburg, S.C.; son Jonathan Jackson (Sally) of Richburg; sister Lillie Jackson of Salt Lake City, Utah; brother Art Peeks (Carol) of Rock Hill; grandchildren Haylee and Hannah Jackson, Christina King (Ryan), and Daniel Michael Johnson; and great-grandchildren Draven Charlton and Kensey King.
The family was to receive friends Sunday, from 6:30-8 p.m., at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel.

Bobby W. Satterwhite, 55, of Ruther Glen died Sunday, June 7, 2015.
Born in Chicago, Ill., he is the son of the late Grayson and Novella Satterwhite.
He enjoyed his fishing at Lake Caroline and hunting with his friends. He was a member of the Civil Bullet Hunt Club.
Survivors include his wife, Jill Satterwhite; his children, Ashley Carneal and her husband, Willie, and Bob Satterwhite; two sisters, Marie Smith and Linda Bradley; and three grandchildren, Grace, Savannah and Willie Carneal, III.
A visitation will be held 9-11 a.m., Saturday, June 13 in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green.

John Gary Shirley, 73, of Milford died Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Bowling Green Health and Rehab Center.
Born in Balboa, Panama, he was a U. S. Navy veteran who served in Vietnam. He was a retired chemist and author.
Survivors include his wife, Frances A. Shirley; five children, Eli Shirley (Jessica), Jacqueline Parker (Scott), Rachel Shirley (Daniel), John Morgan Shirley (Lindsey) and Warren Olinger (Linda); two sisters, Rosebud Good and Suzan Simon; two brothers, Robert and David Shirley; and eleven grandchildren.
Per his request, he was cremated.
