One Lady Cavalier in the 1,000-point club just wasn’t enough.

The Caroline Lady Cavaliers’ basketball team utilized a fourth quarter surge to beat the visiting Chancellor Chargers 55-47 Tuesday night. The highlight of the game was not Hope Toliver’s double-double or the play of Jazmen Moore. The event that all came to see was the 1,000th point scored by Toliver. The crowd was not disappointed.

Toliver’s accomplishment comes days after teammate Moore surpassed 1,000 points scored in her high school career.

Toliver is a junior at Caroline High School. Like her senior counterpart Moore, she has always been a star on the court. To have scored 1,000 points is a goal of every serious player, and to achieve it during her junior year is a dream come true.

At the end of three quarters of hard-driving play, Chancellor held on to a one-point lead, 38-37, until the Cavaliers came roaring back scoring two points for every Charger point scored.

Leading the charge were Toliver with her double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds, plus the competitive, seasoned play of Moore with 12 points, six assists, and seven steals. Future star, guard Mykaila Smith joined Lexi Brown, Moore, and KeAsia Butler in adding to the outside game with three-point baskets. Rejon Hawkins continued to shore up the Lady Cavalier efforts with her 13-point performance.

This game was the last one of the girls’ basketball season with the Cavaliers accumulating a 15-5 record. Next week, Caroline begins the first round of the conference playoffs.
